This site is dedicated to the study of electronic devices used to alter the human experience.

It is the desire of a wetware hacker is to take advantage of the physical interface with the brain; the pathways of visual and auditory perception, along with direct electromagnetic manipulation, to alter the mind, at least temporarily.

There is no doubt in the mind of the alert observer that humans and technology will continue to merge, both metaphorically and in the physical sense.

As we continue to surround ourselves with ambient artificial intelligence and ubiquitous computing, the proximity of techno-physical contact is enhanced. Already present in medical applications, implants and interfaces are blurring the lines between man and machine. It is a trend that has no end.

Since the advent of electronics, and the inception of science fiction, the idea of mind manipulation, for good and evil, has permeated our literature and our films.

It is only in today’s world that the understanding of wetware, and the maturation of an interface technology, that the narrow bandwidth of common perception can be bypassed, and the mind’s information superhighway can be tapped.

As technology advances, and as does our understanding of the human brain, the question of pushing our minds to a plateau of extreme capability moves out of the realm of science fiction and into the territory of plausibility.

Let us stay away, for the moment, from external perception augmentation, or direct neural input. Let us disregard the potential offered by wetware implantation of memory or processing hardware. Let us instead focus on the potential and plasticity of the human mind, but certainly include impermanent wetware training techniques and devices without which a lifetime of Buddhist training would be required to accomplish similar effects.

The first conceptual attempt would have to be a holistic approach, based totally on a comprehensive understanding of the multiple abstraction construct known as wetware. Taking full advantage of the intricate relationship between physical and mental, would lead to an implementation that exceeded any currently trainable cerebral ability.

The alternative extreme would be an oversimplified attempt at replicating the redundant iteration of simplicity upon which all modern computing is based. Training repetitive processes of algorithmic methodology that lack intrinsic wetware meaning, in the hope that stringing these procedures together could duplicate the computational power of electrified binary numerics.

It is in the exploration of the possibilities and a free exchange of information that will allow us to succeed. It is to that end that this site has been built.
